Marseille-Provence, first French regional airport to set up PARAFE

Since June 29, 2012, Marseille-Provence airport has let the travellers take advantage of PARAFE (Automated Fast Track Crossing at External Borders) system, having installed 2 airlocks at departures and 2 at arrivals. With this system, passengers wishing to cross the border on departure or arrival may do using this automated passport control system. Combined with biometric authentification technology based on fingerprints, PARAFE simplifies the formalities of border crossing, quick and smooth; the average time to cross the border is about twenty seconds.

Since the inauguration of PARAFE, 27 airlock gates have been installed in the Parisian airports Roissy CDG and Orly. More than 150,000 people have registered and more than one million crossings have been recorded.

Travelers who do not have a French biometric passport and European nationals must register on a national database to use PARAFE. Registration is free and takes a few minutes.

Travelers who’s have a French biometric passport can use PARAFE immediately with no prior registration.
